The »QueerPassion« is none other than Johann Sebastian Bach’s famous St. John Passion, to which Thomas Höft has written an entirely new libretto. Instead of the story of Jesus’ Passion, this text focuses on the suffering of discriminated and murdered queer people. This has nothing to do with superficial provocation – the Biblical Passion story does not come into it – but with the serious question of our attitude towards the suffering of people who are or have been persecuted because of their sexuality or gender diversity.
