The jazz trio led by Freiburg-based pianist and university professor Helmut Lörscher (with Bernd Heitzler, bass, and Matthias Daneck, drums) plays chamber-music-style jazz with dense, lively synergy – even elements of classical music get the jazz treatment. At the 2026 Bachfest, the musicians present their latest programme entitled »trio sonatas – chamber jazz explorations«. This focuses on the sonata à tre – this composition for jazz trio consists of through-composed parts, but also offers plenty of scope for vibrant improvisation. Technical prowess notwithstanding, the emphasis is on fun, groove and the lively communication of a chamber music ensemble.
