Spark – the »Classical Band«: it is under this contradictory name that five musicians came together nearly 20 years ago and perfected the art of combining apparently unreconcilable musical styles as if they belonged together. In their programme »Closer to Paradise«, Spark and the superb countertenor Valer Sabadus make the feeling of longing audible. Each of the four sections focuses on a different aspect of this state of mind, switching languages as rapidly as genre. The spectrum ranges from Baroque arias and Romantic lieder right through to famous pop songs. The only constant factor is the musical line-up and the top-notch quality of the music.
