No 35 Of Knights and Windmills

How does a battle with a windmill sound? Can instruments sigh? Come along with Marsyas Baroque to join in the adventures of Spain’s most famous knight – Don Quixote.
G. P. Telemann: Burlesque de Quichotte, TWV 55: G10 • G. P. Telemann: Don Quichotte auf der Hochzeit des Comacho (Auszüge), TWV 21: 32
For children aged 6 years and older and their accompanists
Artists: Lars Conrad (baritone) • Marsyas Baroque: Paula Pinn (recorder), María Carrasco Gil (violin), Konstanze Waidosch (violoncello), Sara Johnson Huidobro (harpsichord)
They assist guests of honour Miguel de Cervantes (the author in person) and the famous composer Georg Philipp Telemann, who have travelled through time and space, as they tell the story in music: they get Rosinante galloping, attempt to woo the Princess Dulcinea and party with Quixote’s faithful squire, Sancho Panza. In an interactive concert featuring Telemann’s »Burlesque de Quichotte« and extracts from his opera »Don Quichotte auf der Hochzeit des Comacho«, Marsyas Baroque present extracts from the Spanish classic, »Don Quijote de La Mancha«. This colourful mixture of listening and active participation (body percussion, singing, etc.) takes children on a journey to 17th-century Spain.
