No 114 Have mercy! – The St. Matthew Passion

This moving film was premiered in 2015 in the Dok Leipzig festival in the cinema Passage-Kino. The Dutch film director Ramón Gieling invites the Amsterdam choir of homeless people, De Straatklinkers, to perform the Passion in an abandoned church together with The Bach Orchestra of the Netherlands. Through their experience of life, the homeless bring this act of salvation into the here and now. At the same time, artists including director Peter Sellars and writer Anne Enquist talk about their relationship with Bach. After great loss, the latter found her way back to life thanks to Bach’s music. The well-known writer (»Counterpoint«) will be coming to talk about the film.
