She was artist-in-residence at the 2024 Bachfest; now, the outstanding violinist Chouchane Siranossian returns to Leipzig and together with Cappella Mediterranea presents the violin concertos of Johann Sebastian Bach. Contrasting with this glittering instrumental music are sacred vocal works by members of the Bach family, including the ciaconna »Mein Freund ist mein und ich bin sein« (»My friend is mine and I am his«) from a wedding cantata by Johann Christoph Bach, in which the violinist faces the challenge of a highly virtuosic solo part. Also on the programme: Johann Sebastian Bach’s superb dialogue cantata »Selig ist der Mann« (»Blessed is the man«), in which the »faithful soul« and Jesus come close to one another.
