Artists: Benjamin Appl (baritone), Neues Bachisches Collegium Musicum, direction: Reinhard Goebel
In one of his few private letters, in 1730 Johann Sebastian Bach proudly stated to a school friend that all his children were »born musicians« with whom he could »already form a vocal and instrumental ensemble«. Top-level domestic music-making was evidently part of the daily routine in the cantor’s apartments in Leipzig. Under the direction of Reinhard Goebel, the Neues Bachisches Collegium Musicum and baritone Benjamin Appl combine a solo cantata by father Bach with instrumental and vocal works by his two youngest sons, Johann Christoph Friedrich and Johann Christian.
