Johann Christoph Schmidt worked from 1698 to 1728 as capellmeister of the Dresden Court Orchestra and was as well responsible for the Protestant church music. For this he wrote the motet »Auf Gott hoffe ich« which is scored exquisitely using four trumpets and timpani. Johann Sebastian Bach himself copied the motet and it is very likely that he had it performed in Leipzig. 300 years later we will allow you to listen to it.
