»BACH – We Are FAMILY« Choir 2020

Enthusiastic singers, dreaming of standing on the choir gallery in St Thomas’ Church to sing cantatas by Bach under the direction of the Cantor of St Thomas Gotthold Schwarz, will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do so during Bachfest 2020

Together with splendid soloists and the Leipzig Baroque Orchestra, the choir will perform two cantatas in a »Motet« on Saturday, June 20, 2020, 3.00 pm, as part of the great series of concerts »Annual cycle of chorale cantatas«. Rehearsals will take place from June 17, 2020.

Experienced singers from all over the world were invited to register before 30 November 2019.

Terms and Conditions

Singers with choir experience who independently study the Bach cantatas are invited to participate. Participation in all rehearsals according to the invitation is binding.
The sheet music will be sent to the participants in January 2020.
The artistic director reserves the right to exclude singers from the project (e.g. in the case of unsuitability, non-compliance with the rehearsal plan).


Registration deadline: November 30, 2019


The singers will be selected in December 2019 and will be notified by 20 December 2019 and will be requested to pay the course fee by 10 January 2020. Registration becomes binding upon payment of the course fee.

Course fee: € 244 (no reduction) incl. festival pass*, autograph show and free admission to the Bach Museum.
*Value: € 67, entitles the holder to purchase one admission ticket per event with a 25% discount on the normal price

The course fee will will be € 177 if a participant has already bought a festival pass. This can be shown by sending a scan or a photograph of the pass.

Participants are responsible for their own accommodation.
